No Sew Jack-O-Lantern Dress and Easy Pumpkin Hair Bun

I shared how to make this “Jack-O-Lantern Dress” and “Pumpkin Hair Bun” on the show today. I wanted to create something festive for my daughter to wear  for Halloween. I saw these black and white, chevron dresses at Walmart for $6.00 and the pumpkin idea hit me.

I saw this bun on my Instagram feed and thought it was such a cute idea.

The idea came from Beckie at She has a very popular blog full of great ideas. Her blog has great instructions on her blog, so rather than type it up again, here is the  link to her steps. The only thing I did differently on the show is use a green sparkly ribbon.

For the pumpkin dress, you need the following supplies.

2-3 squares of  fabric (orange, black and green)

3-Heat-N-Bond (I only use this brand. It is the most reliable and my applique stays on securely)

5-Jack-O-Lantern image to make your template. Here is the one I used.

This short video will show you how I made this dress in just a few minutes. Literally!

My daughter was one of the models on today’s show, and people stopped us all afternoon and asked about her bun and dress. I think it turned out really cute! What do you think?

You can find the supplies for the dress at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores.
